Same Dream review...
JON SECADA, "SAME DREAM" (BIG 3 RECORDS)
For his first album in three years (and his debut on this label), the velvety-voiced Secada is back with a vengeance on this fabulous collection of R&B, pop, funk and everything in between.
His voice has never been better, his phrasing and edges never more crisp. Early in his career, he was busy writing and producing for the likes of Gloria Estefan and Ricky Martin, and here he finally covers two of their biggest hits: "She's All I Ever Had" (Martin) and "Coming Out of the Dark" (Estefan). Both cuts are smartly arranged and beautifully sung from the heart of the songwriter.
He gives a cool shout-out to pals Hall & Oates with the groove-infused "My Baby Don't Rock Like That." He lets loose with some pretty funky reggaeton on "Tender Love." The beautiful uptempo "Window to My Heart" is awash in Spanish guitars.
Bravo, Jon! This one's a joy from start to finish.
